第1話: YoRHa androidsは、記憶喪失と2Bによる9Sの繰り返し暗殺を含む悲劇的な任務に直面する。

The YoRHa androids pledge to save Earth from the machines, for the glory of mankind. During a scouting mission, 2B and 9S encounter a survivor who asks them to retrieve a pod and find their comrade. They locate the pod with a deceased YoRHa android and discover the survivor killed the android and lost their memories. The survivor realizes what happened and in horror jumps off the building after recalling that they are a 2E executioner unit. 9S tries to save the android but is unable to. While falling, the android whispers something to 9S. 2B and 9S continue their scouting mission, they explore a set of ruins. 2B is shown trying to kill 9S but reflected sunlight from a coin stops her. Later in the ruins of a shopping center the pair find a machine life form that does not attack them. They slice apart the machine and a talking head rolls out. The head rolls away in fear after 2B and 9S resolve to kill it. Instead of chasing the talking head, 2B attempts to assassinate 9S one more time. 9S dodges but 2B gains the upper hand, dismembering his arm. 2B tells 9S that she is actually a 2E unit and that she has been ordered to kill 9S and reset his personality as he has learned too much. 9S says he realized this already back when the other 2E unit committed suicide. 9S hacks 2B, but his pod betrays him, allowing 2B to overcome his hack. 9S and 2B simultaneously impale each other, 9S is dealt a fatal wound and 2B puts him to rest with a saddened expression. The commander at the bunker observes this and hopes that this is the last time 2B will be required to assassinate 9S.
