Conan suggests that the phone was placed in a way that would be easy to find it once it rings, which suggests that it was meant to be exchanged with someone. He suggests that the victim might have gotten the place wrong, since he was new to the area, hence he was hurrying. They deduce that the victim might have gotten the store's name wrong, since they were based on detectives.
