Aired on February 16, 2004

Authorities verify three calls from the device originating at distinct locations. Yumi identifies a hesitant caller in a long coat at Beiko station, a man with a dead battery at Apollo sports shop, and a customer at Colombo restaurant who borrowed change. Conan notes the phone numbers are adjacent, with gaps between 1032 and 1100 potentially indicating October to November dates. He theorizes the phone was positioned for easy retrieval during an exchange, suggesting the victim hurried due to unfamiliarity with the area. Suspecting the victim misremembered the store name, the group visits Colombo. There, they discover the customer inquired about a lost phone, leading Conan to tranquilize Richard and expose the truth behind the incident.
