Sunao Katabuchi

[Twitter](https://twitter.com/i/user/87896126) While studying at Nihon University, Katabuchi participated in the writing team of [Sherlock Hound](https://anilist.co/anime/1972/), which's production also involved [Hayao Miyazaki](https://anilist.co/staff/96870/). After graduating, he joined [Telecom Animation Film](https://anilist.co/studio/94/). In 1999, Katabuchi joined [Studio 4°C](https://anilist.co/studio/13/), where he directed [Princess Arete](https://anilist.co/anime/1028/). The movie was released in 2001 and won Excellent Works of the Year in the Domestic Feature Film Category at Tokyo International Anime Fair in 2002. He joined [Madhouse](https://anilist.co/studio/11/) and worked for various animations including [Black Lagoon](https://anilist.co/anime/889/). In 2016, Katabuchi directed [In This Corner of the World](https://anilist.co/anime/15227/) which was released on November 12, 2016 in Japan. Married to fellow director [Chie Uratani](https://anilist.co/staff/121177/).
