Conan reveals that the elder was actually descendants of the family who dressed up as Mikoto to continue the story of the arrow. Heiji and Kazuha arrive at the house in time to confirm the story. Kimie reveals that her mother, who the whole town knew she was the elder and that they knew that the identity of the mermaid's corpse, was the previous elder.
