A student named Ashiya remains in the school infirmary for the first week of high school due to a youkai that has attached itself to him. Seeking assistance, he visits a small tea shop known as the "Mononokean." The shop's owner, a person described as very morose, helps the youkai that accidentally entered this world move on to the next.
