Hwasan Golae

In 2070, massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions threaten human survival. South Korea is in chaos, and Busan is overwhelmed with displaced people. Ha-jin, a young street vendor, possesses a rare gift: the ability to communicate with whales, a secret she guards closely. A one-armed woman named Baek Sang-won invites Ha-jin to join a gules whale hunt. Ha-jin initially refuses due to painful past experiences but later agrees. Onboard the ship, she befriends other crew members and becomes intrigued by the gules whale. Each crew member has a personal connection to the creature, marked by sorrow. As the crew grows increasingly unhinged in their pursuit of the gules, Ha-jin confronts her own traumatic memories, leading to a deepening sense of her own inner turmoil.
