Sakamichi no Apollon

In 1966, a high school freshman named Kaoru Nishimi relocates from Yokosuka to Kyushu due to his father's job. Previously an isolated honor student, Kaoru begins to change after meeting Sentaro Kawabuchi, a reckless classmate. Through Sentaro, he discovers jazz and forms his first true friendship. He also enjoys playing music together. Other characters include Ritsuko, Sentaro's childhood friend and daughter of a record shop owner; Yurika, a mysterious upperclassman; and Brother Jun, a respected peer. Set in a seaside town influenced by American culture, the story follows young people as they meet, develop friendships, and explore music.
