Hikaru believes in destiny, often comparing soul mates to halves of an apple. She hopes to one day meet her true love. After reconnecting with Shindou, a former classmate from ten years ago, she thinks their meeting is fated. Natsuko, a coworker, is determined to win Shindou for herself and will go to great lengths to do so. Amano, a reclusive and serious stranger, appears in the story, though his role remains unclear. The narrative explores the lives and romantic pursuits of these characters.
