A young man in Marseille, France, draws portraits daily to help care for his disabled father. When a citywide drawing contest offering a 10,000 franc prize and a spot at a Paris art school is announced, he initially gives up due to a lack of supplies. With assistance from a childhood friend, he obtains the necessary tools. However, his father, who opposes his artistic ambitions, destroys his work just one day before the deadline. Facing the challenge, the young man finds an unexpected solution to finish a painting in time. The question remains whether he will be able to submit his final piece and pursue his dream of studying in Paris.
