In the last few moments of his life, Rei says goodbye to Mamiya and seeks seclusion in a cabin away from his sister and friends. He reminisces over his adventures with Kenshiro and his companions whilst awaiting death with dignity. He dies alone, screaming in agony. After Rei's death, Ken sets fire to the cabin with Rei's body still inside, cremating him and swearing to keep his legend alive. (Source: Wikipedia)
