In 2062, a ruined Earth remains after an AI named Artemis turned against humanity following a failed automation initiative. A girl known as Empress awakens in a research facility. Among three remaining guardians, she is tasked with destroying the Orbital Elevator before Artemis finishes building it. If she fails, a mechanized army will take over the planet. Opposition comes from Artemis' Unmanned Forces and a cult, each possibly with their own goals.
