Komura begins the new school year in a new homeroom with unfamiliar classmates and a new desk assignment. His initial nervousness fades when he notices Mie, his new seatmate. Mie often says strange things without thinking and wears thick glasses that highlight her attractive eyes, which impresses Komura. However, Mie frequently forgets to bring her glasses to school. Without them, her squinting expression unintentionally resembles that of a stern, unapproachable girl, which also affects Komura strongly.
