A parallel world to another story exists where the Greater Grail was taken from Fuyuki after a previous war and vanished for years. In the 2000s, the group Yggdmillennia, who had stolen the Grail, announce their break from the Mage's Association and claim ownership of the artifact. The Association sends fifty magi to recover it, but nearly all are killed by a Lancer from the opposing side. One survivor triggers the Grail's backup system, enabling the summoning of fourteen Servants. This initiates a large-scale Holy Grail War in Trifas, divided into two factions: the Black Faction, composed of Yggdmillennia members, and the Red Faction, mostly from the Mage's Association with one representative from the Church. The Grail also summons a Ruler to oversee the conflict.
