Returning to the middle school girl's transformation and the danger it presents to the hero and his companion, this second-season conclusion is told by an adult for the first time in the series. However, this narrator, called in by the heroine to resolve the crisis, is not a reliable figure. Once her opponent from the start of the series, he is the hero’s college acquaintance, Deishu Kaiki, a self-proclaimed fake ghostbuster who disbelieves in the supernatural and is known for deception. Despite his usual motives, he agrees to help without charge, attempting to deceive a vengeful deity. Whether this is a real mythic task or another falsehood remains unclear, especially as the narrator appears as uncertain and self-aware as the younger characters or a cynical outsider.
