Soon Kikyo and later Kagome wind up ensnared in the belly of a demon cloaked as a cavern that devours the spiritual energy of priestesses. With her knowledge and experience, Kikyo leads Kagome to the heart of the demon, and later uses her last depleted ounce of energy to merge Kagome's shards of the Shikon Jewel into one.
