Meanwhile at Tsukigase Dam, Major Segai informs Shuichiro Keido that his men are prepared for Funeral Parlor's attack including Daryl, who wants revenge against the Undertakers for stealing his Endlave Steiner. As Gai and Shu hack the control system with Tsugumi's help via Funell, Segai sends Daryl's Endlave to stop them which Gai battles and defeats. However Daryl damages the control system, causing Leukocyte 1 to malfunction and plummet out of orbit into Tokyo. As Segai shows up, Gai (having known about the transmitter all along) makes a deal with him to use the transmitter to stop the satellite, since it is supposed to act as a marker for an orbiting Leukocyte to fire on if activated. In exchange Gai asks Segai to delete all of Shu's data in relation to Funeral Parlor. Gai then steps out while waiting for Leukocyte 3, Leukocyte 1 and the transmitter to line up. Shu, realizing that Gai is going to sacrifice himself and again questions if he is going to just watch or act. At this point Inori heeds Shu's wish to act, which causes her Void to fuse with Kenji's creating a powerful Laser weapon which he uses to destroy both satellites just as their paths intersect. With the operation over, Shu finally accepts Gai's offer and joins Funeral Parlor. Before leaving the ship, Gai tells Arisa that despite her toughened exterior, she is shy to the doting of others. As Shu and Inori leave for school the next day, Shu admits that for the first time he is glad for the power he possesses. After experiencing the flashback, Shu finds himself in the crystal tower where Shuichiro has Inori bound. He explains that Inori was in fact a body created to for Mana (whose soul lies preserved thanks to the virus) after she is reincarnated by fusing her soul into Inori's body. At which point the second Lost Christmas would occur and the virus will annihilate all humans on Earth. Shuichiro then intends to be "Adam" and create a new race in the aftermath with Mana, "Eve." Daath then begins a ceremony to join them together in "marriage" which sparks another flashback. Mana tells Shu she loves and wants to marry him. In actuality, Mana was infected with the Apocalypse Virus which induced her insanity. When Gai learned about it, Mana threatened him not to tell Shu. Back in the present, Shu tries to stop Shuichiro and Daath but crystal-like plants controlled by Mana bind him; however, Gai and Ayase's Steiner arrive in the tower with help from Segai, which is his version of causing trouble for Shuichiro since he was basically ejected from his plan. As Steiner is destroyed, Gai helps Shu remember how the Lost Christmas incident began. On that day ten years ago, Gai asked Shu to meet him at a church to tell him the truth about Mana. However, Mana came instead and tricked Gai into shooting himself. When Shu arrives, the scene disturbed him and rejects Mana's offer to marry her and start a new race together by calling her a monster.
