第 2 集: 大成Pilots Shinkalion克服失敗，加入ERDA

Taisei decides to pilot the Shinkalion after hesitating at first. His high compatibility rating makes him excel at piloting the Shinkalion compared to Ryouta, which makes him jealous of Taisei, though Ryouta hides his true feelings. Despite the high compatibility rating, Taisei still struggles during the fight with the Unknown. Taisei recalls his older sister comforting him when he was younger, which helps him continue to fight. Taisei and the Shinkalion then combine with a different vehicle, which we saw during a flashback at the start of the first episode - Taisei then beats the Unknown. After the battle, Taisei passes out and wakes up in the ERDA infirmary. Despite winning, Taisei says he was unable to do anything, by which he means he let the bridge where he had a precious memory with his sister get destroyed. This attitude annoys Ryouta because he is unable to pilot a Shinkalion at all, and he wants to pilot one because he was attacked by an Unknown as a child and then saved by a Shinkalion. However, as Ryouta is unable to confront his true feelings, he laughs it off. Mai is also a potential driver, however neither of the two have a high enough compatibility rating. During school the next day, Taisei meets Folden, a blonde haired classmate who is very popular with the girls in class. He tells Taisei not to let others rag on him for having a famous older sibling, as Folden has experienced the same thing. Folden then blames his older sibling for putting him in such a situation, which Taisei disagrees with, and says that being a little brother has inspired him to do great things. Taisei's homeroom teacher and member of ERDA, Takanawa, then asks Taisei if he wants to join ERDA, to which he declines. Takanawa tells Taisei that there is a chance his sister is alive and that she previously worked for ERDA - her ERDA account has been accessed since after she is supposed to have gone missing, but they have no other signs. While reflecting on things and talking to his Navi, who tells him that he looked cool while he fought in the Shinkalion, Taisei recalls that his sister told him that failure isn't a bad thing, but rather that it's a bad thing to never try at all. He then decides that it was wrong for him to say he coudn't do anything earlier and joins ERDA after all.
