Lloyd manages to overwhelm Jihriel despite him divine levels of power, and learns the divine sorcery he's been seeking. Upon returning to the surface, he makes a deal with Galilea and the others. Afterwards, in order to study “purifying-class” spells, which is effective on undead and spirits, Lloyd, Sylpha, Ren, and Tao head to the eastern district's sewers, where ghouls have been spotted in significant numbers. The result is a bizarre contest, centered around Lloyd.
