2005年，汽車人與霸天虎在地球重啟戰爭的21年後，霸天虎已佔領塞博坦。一場突襲引發了汽車人城市的激烈戰鬥，擎天柱在戰鬥中被威震天殺死。領導矩陣隨即交由汽車人副指揮官超能王保管。威震天受重傷，被空中飆車拋入太空，並遇見了吞噬行星的獨角獸。他重生為霸天虎的新領導者加爾馮。當加爾馮逐漸強大，獨角獸逼近塞博坦之際，汽車人必須保護領導矩陣，以阻止毀滅的到來。
