Ryuutarou Nakamura

Got his start in the industry as an animator at [Madhouse](https://anilist.co/studio/11/) in the late '70s. Soon after he switched his focus from animating to directing and storyboarding works himself. As a director Nakamura is often praised for his use of sound, and is known for some of the most notable works of the medium such as [Serial Experiments Lain](https://anilist.co/anime/339/), [Kino's Journey](https://anilist.co/anime/486/), and [Ghost Hound](https://anilist.co/anime/2596/) among others. Following several months of hospitalization, Nakamura passed away on June 29, 2013 due to pancreatic cancer.
