Retsuko continues dating Resasuke despite her suffering, while Haida regrets not confessing his feelings. As the quarter ends, the Accounting Department struggles with staff shortages: Haida is hospitalized, Tsubone breaks her arm opening a cookie jar, and Kabae is detained as a suspected spy. Director Ton advises Retsuko, allowing her to help finish the end report. That night, she takes Resasuke to karaoke and vents her frustrations through death metal singing. This performance snaps her out of her infatuation, revealing Resasuke as an herbivore man. The following day, Retsuko and Fenneko visit Haida. Back at the office, normalcy returns, and Retsuko resumes her work while still enduring abuse from her superiors.
