Raido starts high school and attempts to befriend Reina Aharen, who sits next to him. Her quiet speech and unfriendly appearance make interaction difficult initially. After he returns her eraser, she moves unusually close, revealing a warped sense of personal space that hinders her social life. Raido gradually adapts to her soft voice through practice. At an arcade, her lack of spatial awareness makes her skilled at claw machines, allowing her to win many plushies for him. As their bond grows, Aharen increasingly invades his personal space, even sitting on his lap. Another female student watches their developing dynamic with visible anger.

Oshiro later tries to share her umbrella with Aharen, who gets wet due to their height difference. Aharen reveals she knows Oshiro follows them daily but lacks stealth. The next day, Oshiro watches from a distance using binoculars. Raido challenges Aharen to Reversi, believing himself a master, only to discover her unusual vision makes her superior. She cheats to ensure the game ends in a draw.

Aharen arrives at school with messy hair, prompting Oshiro, whose family owns a salon, to cut it while sparing Raido from a bald shave. When Aharen suffers from dry lips, Raido’s failed lip balm attempt leads Oshiro to provide makeup and a massage. Aharen explains her stress stems from a growth spurt in front of her, blocking the chalkboard. Raido tries various methods to help before moving her desk closer. With a seat change announced, Raido attempts to support her by teaching baseball, cooking terrible meals, and filming a dance video for a class project mistaken for a U-Tube idol audition. On moving day, Aharen hugs Raido goodbye, only for them to be reassigned to their original adjacent seats by chance.

Teacher Ms. Tobaru faints upon misinterpreting the bond between Aharen and Raido, sparking health rumors. Aharen chokes on food, leading Raido to suspect possession before teaching her facial expressions. She masters Japanese hip hop, and they rap together until microphones are banned. Raido’s sister provides a fidget spinner, which Aharen uses to impress him and win popularity as King Aha among children. In the park, she lets Futaba win Reversi despite Futaba’s jealousy over Akkun, then forces Akkun to apologize for his behavior. Exhausted from interacting with the kids, Aharen summons her giant dog, Nui, riding him like a horse to get home.
