Shima contacts Rin via phone, claiming to face the year's biggest crisis after Bon and Konekomaru abandoned him. He insists Rin is his only hope and asks to hear his voice until he clears a trial. Rin acts passive, wishes him luck, and hangs up. Shima is then seen outside his house, staring at a cicada on the ground. He timidly attempts to step on it but merely kicks it aside. The insect suddenly flies toward the screen, followed by Shima’s scream. The scene cuts to black, with Shima stating that he does not remember how he ended up in his room after that incident.
