During Neo-Venezia's annual flooding, Akari takes refuge in Aika's Himeya Company room, observing staff deference to the heir. After mentor Akira reprimands Aika for idleness, they argue, leading Aika to stay overnight at Aria Company. A flashback reveals how Alicia inspired Aika to become an undine. The next morning, Akira demands Aika's return, and trainees discover the mentors' lifelong rivalry. Akira proposes a gondola race to decide Aika's residence, but Aika cancels it mid-race, choosing to return to Himeya Company because she respects Akira for challenging her. They return with walnut bread as an apology. Akari recognizes the underlying friendship between Aika and Akira, hoping to emulate such a bond with Alicia.
