While the Black Rose retrieves a painting from Lubich in France, the mute Rita is nearly struck by a car driven by Simone Monterlant and her nephew Fernando Gonzales. The aristocratic passengers hire Nadja to dance at their upcoming masquerade ball. During the event, Fernando pulls her away, prompting guests Leonardo Cardinale and his dressmaker friend Thierry Rothschild to attempt transforming her into an aristocratic lady before the Black Rose waltzes with her.
