A giant entity is sighted in the Snowfield in the Sky on Mount Herve, prompting Atom to join a search party. Dr. Ochanomizu clarifies that the creature is not a monster, but a robot that vanished twelve years ago during the Chronos Project. This project utilized the Merchiades plasma wave telescope to observe the universe before a mysterious avalanche buried the site. The robot shares a significant history with Yūko, Ochanomizu’s secretary, who requests to join the search. Atom and Yūko locate the missing machine, and Yūko addresses it as Gulliver. However, Gulliver has no recollection of his past or his connection to the previous events.
