The annual Best Robot of the Year award ceremony takes place aboard the Queen Cosmo cruise ship, where Atom is honored as a winner alongside Dr. Ochanomizu. A robot-hating individual named Lamp attempts to sabotage the event by artificially triggering a volcanic eruption to sink the vessel. Despite his intense animosity toward machines, Lamp harbors a persistent memory of Friend, a robot that saved his life long ago. The ship unknowingly sails toward a volcanic island, which serves as the location where Lamp and Friend once shared significant time together, setting the stage for the impending disaster.
