Mashiro reviews Takagi’s drawings, correcting errors and explaining the use of G-Pens and Kabura pens. He shares Taro Kawaguchi’s three rules for success: conceit, doing your best, and luck. At a convenience store, Takagi spots Eiji Nizuma, a fifteen-year-old semi-finalist in Jack. The pair discuss their schools and editors, deciding to complete a manuscript by summer’s end to submit to the magazine. On the walk home, Mashiro unexpectedly meets Azuki. Although they avoid eye contact while passing, both turn around to look back at each other.
