Asta remains depressed after losing a duel to Yuno, ignoring the Bulls' attempts to cheer him up. Meanwhile, the squad anxiously awaits Royal Knight exam results. To break the tension, Yami forces everyone into a team bath. There, he recounts his history with the Aqua Deers, formerly the Grey Deers under Julius Novachrono. Yami accepted a job protecting a village harvest from bandits in exchange for food. Overwhelmed by the enemy numbers, he was aided by William Vangeance. Together, they captured all bandits except their leader, establishing a rivalry between Yami and Vangeance that persists to this day.
