Rukia encounters Zennosuke Kurumadani after visiting the Urahara Shop, where they are attacked by Shrieker, a frog-like Hollow now a Sinner in Hell. Shrieker reveals he can leave Hell at will. Renji joins Rukia to defeat him and return him to Hell. Meanwhile, Yamamoto orders an emergency meeting and dispatches Renji and Rukia to investigate, explicitly warning them against involving Ichigo. In Hell, the deceased Szayelaporro Grantz and Aaroniero Arruruerie encounter Sinners Shuren, Taikon, Gunjo, and Garogai. After Szayelaporro and Aaroniero are easily defeated by Shuren, Shuren focuses on Ichigo's hollowfied form as a potential means to escape the depths of Hell.
