Ichigo and Uryuu continue their battle with Ginjo. When Ginjo senses Tsukishima is near death, he stops the fight to reveal that the Soul Society has been spying on the Substitute Soul Reapers to monitor their actions. Ichigo acknowledges this revelation but maintains his trust in the Soul Society for helping him protect those close to him. In response to Ichigo's resolve, Ginjo releases his bankai to destroy the dimension while other Soul Reapers watch. The two engage in a final clash, marking the conclusion of the Lost Substitute Shinigami arc.
