Ep. 221: Chunin Exams Resume With Written Test and Forest of Death Challenges
Sai oversees the resumed Chunin Exams, starting with a written test where nine teams pass. Naruto reminds remaining candidates that the exams aim to soothe villagers after Isshiki's attack. The second phase takes place in the Forest of Death, where Shikamaru reveals the goal is to rescue ten shinobi. Sai notes that participants act alone and only ten will advance. Teams enter the woods, facing various obstacles. Namida is knocked out by Mirai, while Team 40 sinks in quicksand. Mirai attempts to deceive Sarada, but Denki, Tsubaki, Iwabe, Wasabi, Inojin, Houki, Mitsuki, and Cho-Cho succeed. Kaito Kawanami traps Boruto, but a bear appears, leading Boruto to rescue Kaito. Sarada passes, leaving one spot. Boruto arrives slightly late due to his rescue efforts, but Sai judges his overall performance as correct. Sai and Moegi announce the final test involves one-on-one battles, meaning only five of the ten will become chunin.
