Ep. 2: Sumire Pursues Taichi and Returns to Karuta Club Practice

Taichi portrays Tsuboguchi, a college graduate turned high school teacher, at the Shiranami Society. Harada observes Sumire spying on the players through the door. During the subsequent meeting, most applicants depart the club, leaving only Akihiro Tsukuba. Sumire eventually returns due to boredom with new acquaintances. Tsukuba displays arrogance regarding his karuta abilities. Chihaya advises Sumire to trim her nails for better movement, prompting Sumire to confess she joined to pursue Taichi. She flees in embarrassment. Chihaya reflects on the need for a substitute after her collapse last year, leading Nishida to prioritize training new members. Kana retrieves Sumire, who realizes that improving at karuta is necessary to pursue Taichi, and subsequently clips her nails.
