Clare accepts a black card from an enigmatic figure associated with the organization she serves. Raki observes Clare facing another Claymore, Elena. Clare explains that Claymores who overuse Yoma power risk succumbing to their demonic half. To preserve their humanity before fully awakening, they send a black card with their insignia to a chosen Claymore to be killed. Elena was nearing this awakening. Despite Raki's objections, Clare kills Elena, allowing her to die with her human heart intact rather than becoming a monster.
