Souma invites Motoharu to attend the summer festival alongside Hayate, Shun, and Takayuki. Upon reuniting with Takayuki, Motoharu meets the rest of the group. His natural communication skills allow him to build friendly relationships with everyone except Hayate. Hayate remains consistently nervous around Motoharu, which causes him sadness due to the lack of progress in their relationship. Seeking to improve the situation, Motoharu decides to utilize this gathering as an opportunity to test a new idea for bridging the gap between them.
