Yoshinaga instructs students on evacuation procedures during a school drill. Shin-chan operates a fire extinguisher, accidentally extinguishing the flames and humiliating the teachers and principal, though his peers praise him. Later, Shin-chan discovers an abandoned puppy and brings it home. He attempts to conceal the animal from his mother, but she eventually discovers it and reprimands him. Despite Misae initially forbidding the pet from staying in the house, Shin-chan develops a strong attachment to the animal. Consequently, the family decides to keep the puppy and officially names it Shiro.
