Nakanishi recruits Ko for a sandlot rematch from fifth grade, assigning him to right field despite Ko’s warm-up pitches. Aoba discovers her sister Momiji can handle her hardest throws because Momiji assisted Ko in practice. Akaishi, now junior high captain, observes the game and recalls Wakaba’s claims about Ko’s skills. Ko leads his team to a narrow victory with strong fielding and batting. Nakanishi later learns Ko avoided the baseball team because Nakanishi was expelled for fighting. Meanwhile, Aoba and Akaishi discuss troubling rumors regarding Seishu High School’s consecutive losing seasons. Acting Principal Shido expresses satisfaction with a man dressed as a coach regarding his ongoing plans at the school.
