After a bitter walk-off loss ends his junior high career, pitcher Eijun Sawamura resolves to reach the nationals in high school. His studies are interrupted by an unannounced visitor, Rei Takashima, assistant director of the prestigious Seidou High School Baseball Team. Having watched his final game, Takashima recognizes Sawamura's unique talent and invites him to join Seido. Although Sawamura’s initial response shocks her, Takashima remains persistent and ultimately tricks him into visiting the school. This narrative corresponds to chapter 1 of the series, establishing the protagonist's pivotal encounter with the recruitment agent who sees potential in his abilities despite his novice status.
