Laios remembers acquiring his sword three years ago after being killed by a living armor monster. The party encounters a congregation of these suits in the same area, where Marcille deduces they are empty puppets controlled by a larger creature. Laios fights a giant armor guarding an egg, realizing the shells belong to small mollusc-like monsters. He uses the egg as bait to defeat the leader and escapes with his companions. Senshi cooks the defeated monsters like shellfish, though they lack flavor. Laios takes the giant armor's superior sword as a replacement, secretly hiding the fact that one monster remains alive inside the handle.
