Ep. 1: Lucy escapes facility after killing staff, loses memory, and is found by Kohta and Yuka

Following a massacre of facility employees, Lucy escapes but is shot in the head by a sniper and falls into water. Upon reaching the shore, she suffers from amnesia and can only utter the word "Nyu." Kohta and Yuka discover her and, unable to communicate due to her language barrier, take her to Kohta’s new home. They decide to name her Nyu. While inside, Kohta shows Yuka a seashell he claims is a memento from his late sister. Misunderstanding the significance of the object, Nyu breaks the shell. Distressed by this action, Kohta becomes upset, causing Nyu to flee the house in fear.
