Ep. 5: Mayu's traumatic past and stepfather abuse are revealed as she joins Kohta's family.

Mayu’s history is disclosed, showing she fled her home after her mother’s remarriage led to repeated molestation by her stepfather. Abandoned by her mother, she wandered until finding a stray dog she named Wanta. Meanwhile, Kohta and Yuka enroll in university, bringing Nyu along. Professor Kakuzawa, a lecturer and partial Diclonius, discovers Nyu and attempts to use her for breeding purposes. Lucy swiftly decapitates him, dismissing his value in the evolution toward a Diclonius-dominated world. Kohta later learns it is Mayu’s 14th birthday. He invites her to live with them permanently, allowing her to finally feel accepted by a family that cares for her.
