Ep. 1: Summoning Ancient Heroes
Flashbacks reveal Kiritsugu Emiya and Irisviel von Einzbern welcoming daughter Ilyasviel eight years ago in Germany, while Kirei Kotomine prepares for the Holy Grail War three years ago under Tokiomi Tosaka. One year ago, Kariya Matou discovers Sakura Tousaka’s adoption by the Matou family in Fuyuki City and strikes a deal with Zouken to gain power. In the present, Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi humiliates student Waver Velvet, prompting Waver to steal an artifact to join the conflict. As participants like Kirei and Kiritsugu confront their unknown motives, Irisviel hopes for King Arthur. However, Kiritsugu fears Arthur’s chivalry conflicts with his pragmatism. When Kiritsugu, Tokiomi, Kariya, and Waver summon their servants, Kiritsugu and Irisviel are stunned to discover the summoned Saber class King Arthur is a woman.
