A powerful artifact known as the Holy Grail, capable of fulfilling any wish, has instigated three brutal conflicts without a clear winner. The affluent Einzbern family believes the Fourth Holy Grail War will yield different results, particularly since they now possess a vessel for the Grail. To ensure success, they employ Kiritsugu Emiya, a feared mercenary known as the "Magus Killer," under the condition of marrying their daughter, Irisviel. Kiritsugu becomes a key player in a deadly competition involving six others, each wielding an ancient familiar and driven by personal ambitions. Alongside his own familiar, Saber, he faces intense challenges, especially from Kirei Kotomine, a priest seeking inner redemption through confronting Kiritsugu. Based on a light novel by Gen Urobuchi, the story unfolds as the Fourth Holy Grail War, set ten years before another narrative. The war is a high-stakes battle where survival is uncertain.
