The Nautilus survives a torpedo attack by six Garfish in the Kermodec Trench before Nemo destroys the fleet. Gargoyle then uses the SeaNet Beam Gun to lift the submarine toward his Neo-Atlantean battleship. Damage from an atomic vibrator weakens the Nautilus, prompting Electra to suggest self-destruction. Grandis opposes this, claiming she wants to die with Captain Nemo because he will never love her. The Grandis gang sabotages the battleship's missile tube using an annihilation bomb while Jean rescues Nadia from surrendering. The Nautilus engineers destroy Gargoyle's weapon with their final missile. The damaged submarine enters a whirlpool as Gargoyle orders another Garfish fleet to finish them off.
