Ep. 20: Jean's Glider Fails and Nadia Learns Electra's True Feelings
Aired on September 21, 1990

20
Jean tests a rocket-powered miniature glider on the Nautilus deck, but the engine backfires, causing the craft to spiral and explode. The crew fears Gargoyle will detect the noise, forcing Nemo to destroy additional Garfish submarines. Nemo reprimands Jean for his carelessness, prompting Nadia to defend him aggressively, which results in her being slapped by Nemo for insulting his crew. Meanwhile, Nadia’s jealousy regarding Jean’s friendship with Electra intensifies until Electra clarifies she views Jean merely as a lost younger brother. This revelation helps Nadia recognize Gargoyle as the murderer who killed Electra’s sibling years ago, leading her to realize her previous misjudgment of the situation was incorrect.
