Ep. 1: Chiyo Sakura Confesses to Fan Umetaro Nozaki Who Is a Shoujo Manga Artist

Sixteen-year-old Chiyo Sakura attempts to confess her feelings to her crush, Umetaro Nozaki, but he misunderstands and hands her an autograph. When she expresses a desire to be with him, he invites her to his home for beta work. After hours of labor, Sakura discovers she is inking pages for a shoujo manga series published in a magazine she frequently reads. The pair then brainstorm romantic tropes for the story, such as introducing a delinquent character or using a tandem bicycle to take a girl home. Despite Nozaki’s obliviousness and his interaction with stray cats, Sakura tries to confess again, only to receive another autograph. The episode concludes with Nozaki introducing Sakura to one of his friends.
