The attacker’s family died in the nuclear strike on Westerland during the Lippstadt conflict, revealing the motive. This revelation deeply shakes Reinhard, forcing him to confront his own guilt and inaction from that period. That night, he asks Hildegard to stay with him. The following morning, a flustered Hildegard returns to her estate. Reinhard subsequently visits the Mariendorf estate to formally ask for Hildegard’s hand in marriage. However, Hildegard remains uncertain about his true feelings, suspecting that his proposal stems from a sense of obligation rather than genuine affection.
