Seeking to escape feelings regarding his rival's death, Reinhard focuses on administrative duties. During a rainy storm, he recalls a pact made with Kircheis and Reuenthal. Reuenthal had previously requested Reinhard's assistance to save Mittermeyer from nobles who sought to kill him after Mittermeyer executed a noble-born soldier for looting. Meanwhile, in Heinessen, Reuenthal swiftly removes corrupt ex-alliance politicians and military industry owners. He believes that eliminating such corruption justifies his rule over the region. Separately, Mittermeyer reunites with his wife Evangelin at the space port.
