Space Monk Dyruz traverses the galaxy, ringing his bell from planet to planet. The resulting vibrations derail the 999 and cause Tetsuro's teeth to shatter. Consequently, they seek emergency treatment at the Emergency Medical Treatment Asteroid. There, they meet Mikail, a young man who is severely injured and ready to give up on life. Tetsuro and Dyruz compete to see who can restore hope to the young man. This encounter forces both characters to confront their own methods of providing comfort and inspiration to those in despair. The situation highlights the contrasting approaches of the monk and the young man as they strive to help Mikail find a reason to continue living amidst his physical and emotional suffering.
